So it's the time of year again where I start thinking about what books I'm putting on my Christmas wishlist. I thought I'd start a feature where I choose a book each week leading up to Christmas and say why it's made it onto my wishlist – and I'd love to see what books everyone else is hoping to get! So if you want to make your own blog post about it, you can link up down below (or if you just want to mention it in the comments, you can do that too).
Also yes, I did make that Christmas "tree" of books from scratch! :D It was way more difficult than I had anticipated! Good thing I'm not going into architecture...
My first pick:
Songs for a Teenage Nomad by Kim Culbertson
From Goodreads:I love music - writing songs, playing guitar, listening to music - and I've heard some really positive things about this one. Calle sounds like someone you could easily sympathize with (who would want to be bounced around that much in their childhood?) and I like that music is something she relies on.
After living in twelve places in eight years with her drifting mother, fourteen-year-old Calle Smith finds herself in Andreas Bay, California, at the start of ninth grade. Fearful of putting down roots anywhere, but armed with her song journal, she moves to her own sound track through a world that bounces her between the school drama crowd, a mysterious loner, and an unlikely boy who will become her first love. But it's the troubling truth she uncovers about her father that forces Calle to face the toughest choice of her young life.

Love the Christmas tree of books!! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL thanks! :D
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that tree of books! I could definitely get behind celebrating around that type of tree! Especially with those friends where we always exchange books! :)
ReplyDeleteAww this is a great idea! I'm a huge Christmas junkie =) That tree is AWESOME! Majorly impressive! My first thought was "did she do that herself?!" LOL and then you answered my question =) This sounds like a really sweet read. I already like Calle! Hmm...what do I want for Christmas...the rest of The Hunger Games series? I haven't bought them yet lol =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the book tree compliments! :)
ReplyDelete@Ashley: Yes, there's always a LOT of book-exchanging happening in my family at Christmas. I always look forward to getting a huge stack of books! :D
@Casey: Ooooh hope you do get the rest of the Hunger Games for Christmas, that would be awesome! I have the full set in hardcover (you can see Catching Fire at the bottom of the tree there :D)
Okay, the book tree is too cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping by from the Saturday Situation and I wanted to say that this is such a neat idea for a feature. I added a link to a guest post I did at another blog about books I'm giving for Christmas, and I have to say I wouldn't be sorry to see any of them end up under my tree!
Great tree, I doubt I would have been able to do it at all. Good idea too.
ReplyDeleteloving the christmas tree of books what a fabulous idea!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat tree! Good idea...I'm not sure what I want to put on my Christmas wishlist yet. Must get past Halloween first. But I'll be thinking about it, thanks!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your tree! Maybe that's what I'll do this year, instead of a "real" tree. I'd rather spend the $50 on books than a tree that'll just drop needles over my floor.
ReplyDeleteI've got so many books on my Christmas wishlist...it's a great idea (maybe someone will read mine & just give me all those lovely books I'm dying for. Wouldn't that be an awesome gift? *sigh* Dare to dream.).
