The weekly question is: Do you listen to music when you read? If so, what are your favorite reading tunes?
Typically I don't listen to music while I'm reading (and I find the music played in Chapters frequently very distracting). When I was younger I sometimes did, though - I can remember reading Uglies by Scott Westerfeld for the first time and listening to the ABBA Gold CD as I did so (they were both Christmas gifts, I think) and now they seem to be connected in my brain somehow. The one exception I do make is reading textbooks; I'll often turn on the radio to some soft rock while I highlight, to liven up the reading experience a little.
And since this week's question is about music I thought it would make sense to mention that the Book Blogger Hop always reminds me of this song from the movie American Graffiti:

I have a horror story regarding ABBA Gold, I generally like ABBA but when I was working one time one of the teachers at the office put on ABBA in her computer and left the office, leaving us underlings listening to it for four hours straight. We listened each song like 4 times.

Like you, I also listened to music when studying. My math music is the Backstreet boys, they help me through tests :D

ReplyDeleteI actually don't mind music if it's really soft. If I'm at school, I have to have music to hear over the loud people in the halls. But if I'm at home, I keep it low or I listen to purely instrumental music.

ReplyDeleteI also always listen to music while reading a textbook, cause else I tend to fall asleep (I sing along to keep myself awake).

I have to agree - listening to music while reading textbooks has to be my one exception. It definitely livens up the experience.

ReplyDeleteI don't listen to music while reading, but I do "watch" television. Probably because I have an addiction to TV and I would never keep up with the books and my shows if I didn't do both at the same time!
