Yes, it's a new blog feature! Each week I'll post a categorical superlative (e.g. "most sadistic villain" "crankiest father figure" "protagonist you would most like to slap some sense into" etc.) and list a few choices of characters from YA books in a poll. You get to pick! The poll will run for a week, and then in the following post I'll update with the name of the winning character.
First up: Most Sadistic Villain in YA.
There are lots of choices here, so vote below! There's also an option for a write-in vote if your pick isn't listed. If that's the case, please choose "other" and then leave the character's name and book title in the comments :)
I'm going to have to go with Leck from Kristin Cashore's books Graceling, Fire, and Bitterblue.
ReplyDelete***Spoiler alert***
The man was a creeper from the day he was born and only got worse. He tortures animals, has way too much interest in young girls, murders people on a whim, and then gets inside people's heads to convince them otherwise. So, so creepy and evil.
Wow, such a hard choice. But, I finally chose Umbridge. I wanted her dead more than I wanted Voldemort dead.
ReplyDeleteI found it hard to choose but went with Jane because she can hurt people from a distance - fun feature!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Umbridge - the first time I read that story, I spent so much of the book squicked out by the whole special quill thing. She was evil!
ReplyDeleteUmbridge gets my vote. Wow I hated her so much and found her so darn creepy! Between her abuse of the students and her prejudice toward muggle-born people she really bugged me.
ReplyDeleteGah, that was a hard choice between Voldemort and Umbridge for me. I hate Umbridge especially because she acts under the guise of goodness!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to say Voldemort, but I think Umbridge is actually more sinister after all :) Great poll!
ReplyDeleteWithout question I'd say Mayor Prentiss from the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness. He's creepy, conniving and even *Spoiler* kills his own son. He uses his ability to control people's thoughts to take over an entire society and confuse those that would normally be good people. He's the baddest of the bad, a complete and total psychopath.
ReplyDeleteGreat poll!
Ohhhh that's a tough one!!! Between Voldy and Umbridge? lol
ReplyDeleteI'd probably have to say Umbridge.. at least Voldemort, you knew where you stood with him.. lol.. not masked behind a face of false kindness ;)
AH. I love that Umbridge is winning. She is the worst ever.
