Top Ten Books I'm Hoping To Read This Summer

The Top Ten Tuesday meme is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. I actually have some time now before school starts up again to get some reading (for fun) in!

It is rather sad and pathetic that some of the books on this list were on last year's summer TBR list too. Sooner or later (apparently later for a lot of them) they will get read!

1.) Attachments by Rainbow Rowell — I haven't read anything by Rainbow Rowell before but lots of bloggers rave about her books. I've already started Attachments, not very far into it yet but liking it well enough so far.

2.) The Fault in Our Stars by John Green — Yeah, I'm one of those rare people who has not yet read this one. But now with the film out I have no more excuses!

3.) Scarlet by Marissa Meyer — I so need to catch up on this series, I'm way behind.

4.) Shadows on the Moon by Zoë Marriott — I haven't read any books involving Japanese culture in a while so this will be a nice change. Plus, fairytales are always up my alley.

5.) Reached by Ally Condie — This one is so huge that it kind of intimidates me. I think I'll need to crack open Crossed first and remind myself of how it ended, because it's been a while now since I read it.

6.) Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein — somehow this one is *still* on my TBR list. I don't know how it has not been read yet.

7.) Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys — I know this one is supposed to be heartbreakingly depressing, but also oh so well-written.

8.) Breath by Jackie Morse Kessler —I've had mixed feelings about this series (I think the best so far is still the first) but I liked the character of Death and this is supposed to be the book that focuses most on him.

9.) The Sweet, Terrible, Glorious Year I Truly, Completely Lost It by Lisa Shanahan — this one looks perfect as a light, fun summer read.

10.) Five Flavours of Dumb by Antony John — this one's received plenty of great reviews from bloggers I trust.

Which of these books do you guys think I should prioritize reading? I'd love your input (as I'm not sure I'll get to all of them!)

And what books are on *your* summer TBR list?

  1. You'll love Between Shades of Grey, lovely book! And believe it or not, I didn't love TFIOS. Liked it, but not love. Looking forward to hearing what you think.

  2. I read Code Name Verity and it is quite good! It did start off a little slow for me, but it was worth it in the end. Hope you enjoy it! And Scarlet! You definitely need to read that, and then Cress!

  3. Haha, yeah, everyone wants ISLA! Especially since ARCs are so rare! So, so excited for SEALER'S PROMISE. B&B ftw! There's one coming out next year called THE ARTISANS by Julie Reece. Have you heard of that one yet, Danya? Don't feel sad or pathetic. Some of my titles were on previous lists, too!! I am SO EXCITED to see SHADOWS ON THE MOON on your list. I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! REACHED, oh. It's actually the best of the three! CODE NAME VERITY, me too! I've been trying forever to read this!! FIVE FLAVORS OF DUMB is also good. These are the ones I'd do first! :)

  4. Code Name Verity is on my list too! (I really like that cover!) I really enjoy The Lunar Chronicles and hope you enjoy catching up on this series! You're in for a treat. :D It's okay that you haven't read The Fault In Our Stars because when you get around to it you will and it will be great. (at least I hope you like the book.)

    Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I very much want to read Attachments also. I hadn't read anything by Rainbow Rowell up until the fall of last year because I thought the hype might ruin it, but I picked up Fangirl and ADORED it. Her writing style is really fun and easy to read. Code Name Verity is phenomenal but heartbreaking, I'm actually "rereading" right now with the audiobook, very, very well done! Awesome list, Happy summer :D

  6. You know, I wasn't all that moved by Scarlet. I guess I would rather see more of Queen Levana. And I'm not that into wolves. Hopefully Cress is better!

  7. I just loved TFiOS. Loved. I also really liked Reached. And I definitely want to read Attachments, Code Name Verity, Scarlet, and Between Shades of Grey. Hope you get a chance to read (and enjoy!) them all :)

  8. I just finished Eleanor & Park, and although I enjoyed it, I'm hoping I'll like Rowell's adult novels more. You are in for great reading with TFIOS!

What did you think about Crossed? I thought Matched satisfied all my Hunger Games/Divergent longings, but the reviews of next two in the series kept me from finishing.

I've got to add Code Name Verity to my TBR, as well!

  10. I still haven't read The Fault in Our Stars either, so you're not alone. I've yet to pick up any of John Green's books, in fact. Loved Code Name Verity though! I hope you like it. :) I too need to catch up with Marissa Meyer's series.

  12. I need to read TFiOS and SCARLET too - I'm woefully behind on some of the 'big' YA books. Maybe this is the summer?!
