2013 New Adult Challenge Sign-Ups!

I was very pleased with the response this past year to the New Adult reading challenge I hosted, so I'm happy to announce that it will be happening again in 2013! This time I will be co-hosting it with three other bloggers: Victoria from Confessions of a Twenty Something Fiction Writer (she is also a member of the NA Alley blog), Tara from Tater's Tall Tails, and Barbara from Basia's Bookshelf. We're hoping to get plenty more readers excited about New Adult in 2013!

For those of you who are new to New Adult, it's fiction dealing with college-aged characters and the issues they're facing. A lot of New Adult happens to be contemporary, but this is NOT a requirement — other genres like fantasy, paranormal and sci-fi can also be New Adult!

Here are the challenge levels for next year:

  • Just Graduated: read a minimum of 5 New Adult books
  • Moving Out: read a minimum of 10 New Adult books
  • Living On Your Own: read a minimum of 20 New Adult books
  • Fully Independent: read a minimum of 30 New Adult books
If you're wondering whether or not a book counts as New Adult, take a look at the age of the protagonist(s). Are they older than 18 but younger than 30? If so, you're good to go. If they're 18 but have graduated high school, or graduate sometime during the story, then it also probably qualifies. But if most of it is set in high school, I'd say that's YA. Ultimately, feel free to use your own judgment to decide!

You don't have to have a blog to participate, but you must post your reviews somewhere accessible online (eg. Goodreads).

Sign-ups are below — please include your name/alias, your e-mail address, and the correct URL for your blog/Goodreads/etc. (If you would like to post about the challenge on your blog and then give the URL for that specific post, that also works!). The challenge will run from Jan. 1 - Dec. 31, 2013.

*Note: If you've already signed up on one of my co-host's blogs, you don't need to do so again here :)

We've also got an awesome button and banner (thanks very much to Tara for designing it!) for you to add to your blog posts/sidebar :)

  1. I've signed up. I don't blog reviews, so I'm glad you've given us the option to do the reviews on Goodreads. I guess this means I have to go beyond just rating a book, huh? :)

  2. I signed up too but I'm not a book blogger. Though, I like to post a few words on Goodreads once I finished a novel. It's going to be fun to participate to this challenge!
