I like the suggestions, especially the one where a parent is inconsistent.Stacy S. It's weird to read the parents died or are impaired in some way. Sometimes I just want to read about parents who are just normal parents.Najelahttp://bravenewadventure.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7076115639598447002.post-47565613344370580562011-09-17T00:05:05.108-07:002011-09-17T00:05:05.108-07:00Love!

Sometimes, it's the whole point of the story. But, I also think it's possible to have a story where the teens have issues or troubles BUT they still have a functional family. Even if the parents and teens fight a lot. I know I fought with my parents a lot, but I would never have said they didn't at least love me.

While I know that the crappy families, parents and households happen, I think the vast majority of parents and families are doing the best they can, the best they know how, but it definitely doesn't mean that everything will be perfect all of the time. I'd like that to be shown in a book sometime...Ashleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07895603279815878376noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7076115639598447002.post-63431399077396637722011-09-16T16:51:26.437-07:002011-09-16T16:51:26.437-07:00I've found with my mid-grade novels that it...I've found with my mid-grade novels that it's not so much getting the parents out of the picture than it is getting the kids out of the house. Lots of adventures can take place at school, etc., without the the parents ever knowing about it.MG Higginshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03584010470283038023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7076115639598447002.post-4164563105567219682011-09-16T15:34:07.413-07:002011-09-16T15:34:07.413-07:00In my books, the parents tend to work night shifts...In my books, the parents tend to work night shifts in the hospital. Apparently my fictious city's hospital is a major employee, and it prefers to hire parents of teens who need to get their parent out of the house. :DStinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11415189347501942340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7076115639598447002.post-18680317486922561502011-09-16T13:43:07.265-07:002011-09-16T13:43:07.265-07:00Thanks, Meredith! Thanks, Meredith!Christina Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01799776834213400246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7076115639598447002.post-75159732579350783812011-09-16T12:20:52.585-07:002011-09-16T12:20:52.585-07:00This is fascinating!
