Personally, I think that Tabitha Suzuma took the idea not of tragedy per say, but of forbidden love and took it to the absolute extreme. As she's mentioned in some previous interviews, she started with that idea and the thought that it would have to be a situation in which no one would ever accept their relationship. If they were of different races or religions, they could easily just elope in Britain, so it wouldn't really be something that would stop love. It's only incest that could be viewed in that way. Sure, it does become a tragic romance, but it's not all it is.Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06643121167322592670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7076115639598447002.post-69478703611421999382011-07-23T09:40:37.517-07:002011-07-23T09:40:37.517-07:00I've been kind of unsure about this one, but I...I've been kind of unsure about this one, but I've seen so many great reviews that I really think this is a must read. I especially love how you point out that Suzuma shows how they arrived at this juncture, that the incest isn't out of nowhere -- I think that will make it an even more powerful read. I'm not sure if I should be glad the two at least find comfort in each other or be apalled it happens in the first place.
